Help for young people to Go Higher

Go Higher West Yorkshire, who support secondary schools and colleges raise students’ aspirations towards Higher Education has organised a support session for young people applying to university from the South Leeds area.

They will be providing free and impartial UCAS personal statement support and careers advice for Year 13 students at The Point Job Shop at The White Rose Shopping Centre (at the top of the stairs next to New Look) during October half-term.

An important part of the university application process is the Personal Statement. Admissions advisers from local universities will review students’ UCAS personal statements to help them make the best impression. Advisers will focus on business studies, law, primary education and art & design, but will also be able to advise on other subjects.

Additionally a careers adviser from Prospects will be taking appointments and The Apprenticeship Hub will have a drop in stall in the afternoon, 1-3pm to talk about apprenticeships.

It all takes place on Thursday 1 November. You can book a slot between 10:30am and 2:30pm using this Eventbrite link.

Go Higher West Yorkshire are also looking for help from parents and carers who have helped a young person improve the skills they will need to succeed in higher education and work, so they can help other people just like you.
