  14. Words cannot express how sad I am on hearing that Dr Lestner has passed away. He was my Doctor for many years and also looked after my mum (who was secretly in love with him) until she too passed away. He was gentle, kind, compassionate, a good listener and above all a very professional and well respected GP.
I send my condolences to his family, friends and work colleagues. He will be remembered by me always as a gentle soul, the good die young they say and in his case, it is true. RIP.

  15. We want to join with everyone who knew Dr Lestner he truly was a very special person, kind, caring and very very human. We have known him since he started at the Ring Road surgery run at the time by Dr Pinkerton, and Dr Sorkins and he never changed he was always smiling as if even though you were a patient he was glad to see you. Our heart felt sympathy to all his family, may he rest in peace we will never forget you. Marlene and Peter Dale

  18. Dr Lestner holds a special place in my heart. Years ago, as a 20 year old girl in an abusive relationship I became very sick in pregnancy. It took a lot of courage to see a doctor but when I did, I was so lucky it was Dr Lestner. I had become severely malnourished and he showed great concern and insisted I go straight to hospital. After an unhelpful call to ambulance, Dr Lestner took me to the hospital himself and handed over directly to another doctor. I later learned he had called the hospital the next day to see if I was OK.
It was thanks Dr Lestner that my life turned around that day and I am now a very happy healthy mother of two.
I will never forget Dr Lestner. He showed me Compassion and made me believe I was worth more than I was tolerating. As someone who doesn’t have any parents myself, he was the only person that cared for me at that time and I am so lucky to have met him.
Truly a wonderful man that the world will miss.
