Calling all Holbeck residents! Local people are being offered the chance to apply for funding to make their streets better for walking.

CityConnect is launching a grant scheme for local community groups. The grants will be available in Holbeck – as well as South Gipton, Cross Green and Richmond Hill,  Armley and New Wortley, Laisterdyke and Bradford Moor.

Local community groups or organisations can apply for between £100 and £2,500 to encourage more people to walk more often or improve the environment for pedestrians.

John Kilner, Living Streets’ Leeds and Bradford project manager, said:

“These grants will help bring about changes to the local environment and make places better and safer for walking. Walking for just 20 minutes a day can transform fitness levels, improve health and reduce stress and anxiety.

“We’re looking for innovative ideas that will improve the local environment and encourage more people to walk.”

The project is being managed by Living Streets, the national charity working to create safe, attractive and enjoyable streets around the UK.

Further details of how to apply for the grants are available on the CityConnect website.
