As the schools break up for the long summer holiday, we look at some of the many activities available to keep your children occupied and entertained.
The Hamara Healthy Living Centre in Beeston is running a full summer programme of activities for 6-12 year olds through to 29th August. There will be football, dance, arts and crafts as well as trips out. Contact the Youth Team on 0113 277 3330 or email admin@hamara.co.uk.
Hunslet Hawks are running Rugby Camps from 6th – 15th August, prices range from £4 for one day to £18 for all six days. Contact: lois.forsell@hawksrl.com or call 0113 271 2730. Full details are on the Hawks website.
Groundwork Leeds are organising a free family picnic in Cross Flatts Park on Thursday 1st August from 11am-2pm. There will be games and competitions. Full details on their website.
Health For All are organising free family Rounders games on Holbeck Moor every Monday from 1-3pm. As the posters say “Bring your Mum, Dad, Nan, Grandad, Brother, Sister to join in the fun!”. Contact kate.alty@healthforall.org.uk or ring 07534 064240.
The Live Well Project will be offering sports and games on Holbeck Moor every weekday afternoon in August from 12-3pm. Sessions will include: tchoukball, tag rugby, rounders, volleyball, boot camp and circuits. The sessions cost £1 per child per day. Contact Chris on 07712 166606.
The Hunslet Club are running their Summer Activity Camp offering sports, dance, games zone, cooking, arts and crafts and much more. The camp runs from 24th July to 16th August and costs £8 per day or £4 per half day. Contact 0113 271 6489.
Skelton Grange Environment Centre in Stourton run various events. Bushcraft is a one day outdoors experience in the woods including shelter making, fire lighting and cooking and other bushcraft skills – there are still places available on 1st and 13th August, the day costs £20. They also run a two day, overnight, version for 10-14 year olds. These run on 19-20th and 22-23rd August and cost £75. Skelton Rangers is a week long (9am-5pm) playscheme at the centre running from 5-9th August offering outdoor crafts, games, walks and nature study. The week costs £150. The Youth Service are running lots of activities from South Leeds Youth Hub including trips to Xscape, Lightwater Valley, Stokeld Park and featuring activities such as go-karting and golf. Contact 0113 336 7776 to book your place.
Middleton Leisure Centre has a programme of activities running through to 23rd August including football, tennis, gymnastics and parkour/free running as well as soft play sessions, striker tots football and gym-minis for the younger children. Prices range from £1 – £5 per session. Contact 0113 378 2423.
Beeston Library will holding Creepy Crafts and Spooky Stories day for 4-11 year olds on 13th August, the event will also run at Middleton Library on 16th August, whilst Dewsbury Road Library hold a Creepy House storytime and treasure hunt on 21st August. All these activities are free.

Asha Centre Playscheme: We are open to children living in South Leeds aged 5-12 years of age, we are OFSTED registered & run by qualified workers.
