On Tuesday 16 June 2026 at 12:30pm people with learning disabilities will march through Leeds City Centre with banners to show they are proud of who they are. This is the fifth time Connect in the North has hosted the event in Learning Disability Week.
The march starts from Leeds Civic Hall and continues all the way to Leeds Corn Exchange. We welcome anyone who would like to join us or who wants to show their support.
Tania Woodhouse, who has a learning disability, explains why she’s helping to organise the march:
“It is important. You want to get out there and get yourself noticed more. We want to make people’s lives easier. Let people know there is nothing wrong with having a disability. We are proud of who we are.”

Connect in the North is a centre for inclusive living led by people with learning difficulties based in Beeston, which believes that people with learning difficulties should have the same rights, choices and opportunities as non-disabled people. All its members and directors are people with learning disabilities. and it has been running for over 30 years.
