Yesterday (25 March 2018) saw a traditional parade through the streets of Beeston Hill complete with donkeys and the Salvation Army band to mark Palm Sunday.
The congregations of the Salvation Army and St Luke’s Church joined together to parade from Hunslet Hall Road, up Lady Pit Lane and along Malvern Road, pausing outside the United Free Church to sing a hymn.
Palm Sunday is an important date in the Christian calendar marking the arrival of Jesus into Jerusalem riding a humble donkey. His followers were said to have lined his path with palm leaves.
