Here’s your regular roundup of what’s making South Leeds tick on other websites, blogs and across Facebook and Twitter.

We start this week at SLATE. As well as recycling furniture and serving ace teas, SLATE provide work and training opportunities for people with learning disabilities. They are currently running a project for the volunteers using art to boost confidence and skills. You can follow the project on the Arts That Care blog. Belle Isle Family Centre is hosting two activities this week according to Health For All. On Thursday 28 May there’s a showing of the film Big Hero 6, then on Friday afternoon there will be family fun including Face painting, arts and crafts, jewellery making and hair braiding.

Beeston Festival is just ten day away and they have now published the programme for the day.

The Garden Gate pub in Hunslet hosted a fundraising day for Mickey Butterfield and his family. Local man Mick is in a coma following an accident on the M62. There was a great turn out and £2,402 was raised.

Students from The South Leeds Academy spent time at The Works skate park during the holidays and report on the school website.

Annoyed by nuisance quad bikes? There’s one less on the streets of South Leeds after Inner South Neighbourhood Policing Team seized one in New Forest Village. They also reunited a motorbike with its owner within a hour of the theft and published their latest newsletter.

There’s a new art and craft class starting at Cottingley Community Centre next week, plus don’t forget yoga on a Thursday.

And finally, Leeds Dynamite cheerleaders have got a great new logo and t-shirts. Plus they’ve posted some inspirational videos to encourage you to get along to their try outs on Friday 12 June.
