What’s On Roundup 18-24 July 2026

Here’s a roundup of some the main events taking place over the coming week in South Leeds.

We start in Beeston where St Andrew’s Community Centre on Cardinal Road (LS11 8AG) is holding a Summer Fun Day to raise funds to replace the roof on Saturday 10am-4pm. Stalls, bingo, face painting, outdoor and indoor activities, food and refreshments and much more.

It’s Steampunk weekend at Middleton Railway on Saturday and Sunday 10am-4pm. There will be a Steampunk and Alternative market with traders, artists, authors, hot food, refreshments and a licensed bar. There will also be a free talk on Saturday afternoon at 2pm entitled Salamanca’s Rivals looking at other early steam engines. And don’t forget Middleton Railway also opens on Wednesdays through the school holidays.

There will be Councillor surgeries from 11am-12pm at Beeston Community Hub & Library on Town Street and from 12-1pm at St Matthew’s Community Centre in Holbeck on Saturday.

Disability Families of Middleton are holding a Summer Fair at 57 Sissons Road (LS10 4JY) on Saturday, 12-4pm. Games, raffle, cake stall, jumble sale, glitter tattoos, tombola and barbecue. Free entry, all welcome.

Sunday sees the Cross Flatts Park Dog Show in Beeston with pedigree and fun classes, plus displays, agility and line dancing. There’s also a band on, refreshments, stalls and free craft activities for children. It all takes place from 2-4:30pm with registration for dog owners from 1:30pm.

The Friends of Middleton Park host the Wakefield Big Band on Sunday afternoon, 2-4pm on the bandstand. This will not be the full band, but a smaller swing jazz ensemble and a jazz quintet with a singer.

Better Beeston are holding a community litter pick on Sunday afternoon. Meet on Maud Avenue at 3pm, equipment provided.

Hunslet RLFC take on high flying Oldham in the Championship on Sunday at South Leeds Stadium, LS11 5DJ. This will be the club’s 5,000th game. Kick off is at 3pm, tickets from: hunsletrflc.ticketco.events, kids under 16 are free and if they are wearing their community club shirt, accompanying adults pay just £5. There is also reduced price for Active Leeds members.

There’s a move to create a new residents forum in Holbeck with an initial meeting taking place on Monday evening at 5:30pm at Slung Low’s Warehouse in Holbeck on Crosby Street. This first meeting will be for residents only and is a chance to talk about who you would like to invite to future meetings.

Middleton Park Football Club are starting a weekly Walking Football session on Monday at 5:30pm. There’s no running or slide tackles just football and friendship. Men and women of all abilities are welcome.

There are a number of Police Contact Points this week. This is a chance to raise concerns or ask questions of the Leeds South Neighbourhood Policing Team in an informal setting. On Tuesday they will be at Hunslet Community Hub & Library from 10am-12pm. On Wednesday they are at Dewsbury Road Community Hub & Library. Then on Thursday they will be at Beeston Community Hub & Library on Town Street.

Skelton Grange Environment Centre has two exciting Wild Play days this week on Tuesday and Wednesday, providing bushcraft and outdoor games in the woods for 8-12-year-olds at Skelton Grange Environment Centre. And the woods are definitely the best place to be on hot days! Book tickets here.

Belle Isle Senior Action celebrate 40 years of service to the community with a party at Belle Isle WMC on Wednesday 12-3pm.

Local residents are invited to Elland Road stadium (East Stand) for a meeting about how the stadium development is progressing on Thursday at 6pm. This is a chance to hear about how the building work is progressing and being managed and raise any concerns with the club.

Housing providers in Belle Isle with Opera North are host a Common ground event at the multi-use games area (MUGA) on West Grange Road LS10 3UY on Thursday 1-4pm. There will be music workshops, pavement art, inflatable assault course, games and a free tuck shop. More importantly it’s a chance for young people to have their say about issues in their community.

And finally, Slung Low present Rapunzel on Holbeck Moor at 2pm on Friday. This bold and funny adaptation of the much-loved storybook by Bethan Woollvin is brought to the stage by award-winning family theatre company Wrongsemble in a brand new theatrical adventure brimming full of music, magic and madcap schemes – and not a prince in sight!
