The next meeting of Beeston Hill Community Association will be held on Monday (27 November 2023) from 6:30pm at the Hamara Centre on Tempest Road.
The new group has started well with three community meetings since its launch in May 2023. This community-led group aims to give residents of Beeston Hill* the opportunity to get to know neighbours, share their views on community life and be heard.
We hope to celebrate what is strong in our community, not simply focus on what is wrong. We would love to see residents getting to know one another, working together to speak up for the area and bring about change.
So far we have enjoyed welcoming local residents and our Hunslet & Riverside Councillors to our relaxed meetings at The Hamara Centre on Tempest Road. As well as enjoying some delicious food (we think we have the best refreshments around!) we have listened to issues that are a priority for those of us living in the area.
We are exploring how we can start to address these as residents together, whilst also contacting relevant agencies and individuals to attend future meetings to hear and act on our concerns.
Local resident and committee member Shazia says:
“A community can only be improved if the residents living in it care about it. Taking the first step maybe hard but others will eventually follow and something beautiful can flourish from it.”
And as Graham, also a committee member said:
“If you don’t tell us, we won’t know about it. Just say it and you will be listened to.”
So if you live in the area and want to make our community better we would love to hear from you – please get involved. For more information and regular updates please check out our Facebook page, ‘Beeston Hill Community Association – Leeds‘.
Our next meeting will be on Monday 27 November, 6:30-8pm at The Hamara Centre, Tempest Road, LS11 6RD. We hope you can join us!
* Beeston Hill Community Association covers the old red brick housing around the Tempest Road area, down to Dewsbury Road, including areas such as the Harlechs, Woodviews, Stratfords and all surrounding streets)
