The Hunslet Club Fireworks Display is an annual South Leeds event that gets better and more exciting each year. On Friday (4 November 2022), over 1,000 people attended the fireworks event from 6pm to approximately 8pm.
The team ran like a well-oiled machine, with staff members getting into positions from 5pm. The events coordinator took the reins and ensured food, refreshments, and activities were available throughout the evening.
Volunteers came to join The Hunslet Club, organised by the new Volunteer Coordinator, Alex. Stewards were dotted around the premises to ensure safety, while members of the Hunslet staff team kept the food flowing thanks to our barbecue, Pod, and tuck shop. We also had team members doing neon face painting inside The Hunslet Club, and we even had a cotton candy machine.
The fireworks display illuminated the sky, and over 1,000 people watched as our fireworks flew into the air to create a colourful display. The crowd cheered and applauded when the display finished before dispersing for more food or warmth inside.
We also worked in partnership with the Hunslet Warriors for the firework display to ensure that every member of the community had the opportunity to see the display. After the success of the 2021 fireworks, we did not want the grounds at The Hunslet Club to be overcrowded, as we wanted to ensure people could move around and enjoy themselves. Therefore, working with the Warriors ensured that our community got to see the fireworks safely and comfortably.
Thank you to our volunteers, community, staff members, local Councillors, and West Yorkshire Police for making this fantastic event possible. Without their unwavering support, we could not bring out community together to witness such a spectacular event with family for free.
