Here’s a roundup of some the main events taking place over the coming week in South Leeds. For full listings go over to our What’s On calendar here.

Saturday is a massive day with three big community events …

We start in Hunslet where the community gala kicks off at 11:30am on the field by Church Street and Grove Road. It will run right through to 4pm with food, stalls, inflatables and performances in the arena.

Then at 12noon over on Holbeck Moor it’s time for Holbeck Gala, featuring live music children’s activities, a bar and refreshments.

After those you’ve got time to nip home and grab a picnic to eat in Middleton Park before Oddsocks Theatre’s Hamlet The Comedy. This is Shakespeare as pantomime and it’s thoroughly entertaining, curtain up at 7pm.

Also on Saturday, the volunteers will be working in Holbeck Cemetery on Beeston Road, 10am-12pm.

It’s Saturday Family Film Club at 11am at St George’s Community Hub & Library in Middleton.

There are coffee mornings at Beeston Parish Centre on Town Street and at the Church of the Nazarene on Grove Road in Hunslet.

Lastly for Saturday, Opera North bring their tale of Orpheus & Euridice to The Holbeck club at 3pm on Saturday.

Sunday sees the start of a run of four Bands In The Park concerts in Cross Flatts Park. This week the band is Duo Nostalgia, a singer and accordion offering tango and more. There will be refreshments from the café and craft activities for children too. 2:30-4:30pm at the Watsonian Pavilion.

Hunslet Tenants & Residents Association meet on Wednesday at the Church of the Nazarene on Grove Road at 6:30pm.

On Thursday Hunslet Carr Residents Association meet at Woodhouse Hill Community Centre behind the Bay Horse pub at 6:30pm.

And finally, at 7:30pm, also on Thursday, at Beeston Village Community Centre, off Town Street, it’s the Beeston Community Forum meeting, this month focussing on community safety.
