Landsec, owner of one of the UK’s leading retail destination portfolios, has released its annual social and economic impact report revealing how White Rose Shopping Centre and Trinity Leeds are helping to drive local growth, contributing £308,095,816 to the local economy and supporting 6,347 jobs in 2025.
Together, White Rose Shopping Centre and Trinity Leeds play an important role in people’s everyday lives that extends far beyond shopping. By supporting business growth, creating jobs and pathways into employment and providing a place where communities come together, the destinations create lasting value for local people, businesses and neighbourhoods.
In 2025, the Leeds retail destinations supported 6,347 jobs across Landsec, its retail partners and businesses operating at the destinations. They also helped 220 people move closer to employment through initiatives such as employability partnerships, which provide valuable hands-on industry experience, and work placements.
The research also found that the shopping centres delivered a combined £1,716,272 in social value in 2025 through investment in local communities and employment initiatives, including bursaries, community grants, volunteering and partnerships. These initiatives help create lasting value beyond economic contribution by supporting community wellbeing, strengthening local partnerships and fostering a sense of pride in the local community.
Alongside their economic and social contribution, White Rose and Trinity Leeds continue to invest in a more sustainable future. In 2025, the destinations reduced their energy intensity by 37% and 49% respectively, reflecting Landsec’s commitment to creating places that deliver lasting value for local communities and the environment.
White Rose and Trinity Leeds continue to build on their strong momentum through ongoing investment, an evolving mix of retail and leisure brands, and meaningful partnerships within the local community. Recent investment has seen Vision Express and LEGO expand and enhance their stores at Trinity Leeds, while White Rose is set to welcome a major expansion of Primark, alongside Superdrug’s recent upsized store, reflecting continued confidence from leading retailers.
The destinations have also welcomed a host of new brands and experiences, including a Football Fanzone at Trinity Kitchen for the World Cup, and new brands such as Lane7, Footasylum, schuh, The Fragrance Shop, Diamonds Factory and Jerk Junction at Trinity Leeds, alongside the recent opening of Volcano Falls Adventure Golf at White Rose, with Freight Island at Trinity Leeds, and Hotel Chocolat and Rassam’s at White Rose set to further strengthen their offering. Beyond retail, both centres continue to champion local talent and businesses through initiatives such as Made in Yorkshire, reinforcing their commitment to supporting the communities they serve.
Steven Foster, Centre Director at Trinity Leeds and White Rose shopping centre, said:
“Retail destinations are part of the fabric of the communities they serve. They help local businesses grow, create employment opportunities and provide places where people can come together, connect and spend time.
“The findings published today demonstrate the important contribution Trinity Leeds and White Rose continue to make to Leeds. By investing in the destinations, supporting employment, working with community partners and operating more sustainably, we’re helping businesses and communities thrive. In turn, that attracts further investment, supports long-term growth and creates lasting value for the local area.”
