What’s On Roundup 8–14 March 2024

Here’s a roundup of some the main events taking place over the coming week in South Leeds. For full listings go over to our What’s On calendar here.

We start this week on Saturday morning with the return of Middleton Makers Market, , after their winter break,10am-2pm, at Middleton Park Circus. Lots of lovely handmade items including clothing, jewelery, soaps and food; all made by local people.

Trinity Network host their Community Reflections Café on Saturday 10am-12pm at the United reformed Church, Nesfield Avenue, Belle Isle, LS10 3LG

Saturday is wellbeing day at Jamyang Buddhist Centre on Ingram Road in Holbeck (LS11 9RQ). It runs from 10am-4:30pm and features Yoga, Sound Therapy, Qi Gong, Reiki, Massage, Shamanic Journeying, Aromatherapy and more.

‘Gulls just wanna have fun’ is the subtitle of the women-only paint party at Seagulls on Water Lane in Holbeck (LS11 9UD) for International Women’s Day on Saturday afternoon 1-3pm.

Also on Saturday the Leeds Knights take on the Hull Seahawks. The ice hockey match faces off at 6:30pm at Planet Ice on Elland Road.

St Luke’s Church, Malvern Road, Beeston Hill, LS11 8PD are serving up their monthly family breakfast at 9:30am, you can stay for morning worship at 10:30am, but you’re not obliged to.

Sunday also sees the monthly Farmers Market running from 10am-4pm with lots of good food straight from the producers, at Armouries Square, Leeds Dock, LS10 1LT.

Hunslet RLFC entertain Doncaster in the Championship on Sunday afternoon. Kick off is at 3pm at South Leeds Stadium, Middleton Grove, LS11 5DJ. Tickets from hunsletrlfc.com, kids under 16 go free.

The South Leeds Community Kitchen will be cooking up a free meal on Sunday, 4-5:45pm, at St Mary’s Church, Town Street, Beeston (opposite Nisa). Everyone is welcome.

The support group for women going through the menopause holds its monthly drop-in session on Tuesday evening, 7-8pm at Hamara Healthy Living Centre, Tempest Road, Beeston, LS11 6RD. Women can receive information, support, some freebies, and the chance to make new friends in a safe and confidential supportive environment. Refreshments will be provided.

Leeds United are at home to Millwall on Wednesday, kicking off at 7:45pm. You can expect the usual heavy traffic and parking issues around Beeston, Holbeck and Cottingley before and after the match.

There is a Police Contact Point at Cottingley Community Centre on Friday, 10am-12pm. This is a chance to raise concerns or ask questions of the Leeds South Neighbourhood Policing Team in an informal setting.

And finally, Hunslet Tenants & Residents Association (TARA) will be meeting on Friday evening, 6-7:30pm at Involve Community Centre, Whitfield Avenue, LS10 2QE.
