Here’s a roundup of some the main events taking place over the coming week in South Leeds.
We start this week at the famous Holbeck Jumble Sale on Saturday, 10am-12:30pm at Jamyang Buddhist Centre LS11 9RQ. You’ll find loads of bargains with prices capped at £1, plus the shop and Happy Yak café will be open too.
Beeston Parish Centre is hosting a Summer Fun Day on Saturday, 11am-3pm. Admission is free for fun, games, bouncy castle, refreshments. Opposite Morrisons Local on Town Street.
DAZL are holding their Summer Fair on Saturday, 12-4pm at their HQ on Acre Road (Ls10 4JQ). Expect raffles, cakes, refreshments, Jamaican food, stalls, games and, of course, dancing.
Hunslet Nelson Cricket Club will host its annual music festival on Sunday. HunFest 2026 runs from 12-8pm featuring The Indecisives, The Flat Caps, Then Again, Georgia Ryell, Craig & Chris Dinnewell and Kiara Kelly. The day will also include kids inflatables and rides, food and a fully stocked bar. Gipsy Lane, opposite Cockburn School, LS11 5TT.
The Grove Inn in Holbeck is holding its annual Grove Fest across Sunday and Monday with a host of bands performing from 1-7pm. Free entry, fresh pizza and award winning real ales.
Leeds United host Brentford in the Premiership, kicking off at 2pm on Sunday. You can expect the usual heavy traffic and parking issues around Beeston, Holbeck and Cottingley before and after the match.
Sunday also sees the Hunslet Moor Summer Gala taking place from 12-3pm at the Hunslet Moor Hub, off Moor Road with games, barbecue, tombola and stalls. All organised by The Friends of Hunslet Moor.
Buy, Sell, Swap is the new version of the jumble or car boot sale and you can take part in one at Manorfield Hall Community Centre, Newhall Road, LS10 3RR on Tuesday 10-11:30am. Entry is free, refreshments will be on sale, get down a buy, sell or swap new and used items.
There are a number of Police Contact Points this week. This is a chance to raise concerns or ask questions of the Leeds South Neighbourhood Policing Team in an informal setting. On Tuesday they will be at Hunslet Community Hub & Library from 10am-12pm. On Wednesday they are at Dewsbury Road Community Hub & Library. Then on Thursday they will be at Beeston Community Hub & Library on Town Street.
Are you struggling with your computer? If so drop in to Tech Tuesday at Jamyang Buddhist Centre in Holbeck (LS11 9RQ), 10am-2pm for expert advice.
Stronger Together is a friendly support group for parents, guardians and carers who care for children and young people with disabilities. It is a monthly space to chat and share. The next meeting is on Tuesday, 11am-1pm at BITMO’s GATE, Aberfield Gate, LS10 3QH.
Looking for work or a new opportunity? Visit the Jobs Fair at St Matthew’s Community Centre (LS11 9NR) on Thursday, from 10am to 12pm. Meet a variety of local employers, explore current job vacancies, and receive free CV advice and job-search support. Attendees can also take advantage of a free health check on the day.
There are two residents meetings on Thursday. Firstly, Hunslet Carr Residents Association meets on Thursday, 6:30pm, at Woodhouse Hill Community Centre, LS10 2EF.
Then at 7pm Beeston Community Forum meets on Thursday at Beeston Village Community Centre, off Town Street, LS11 8DQ.
And finally, Middleton Elderly Aid host their monthly free legal advice drop-in on Friday morning from 9:30-11:30am at their Social Centre on Acre Road, LS10 4LF.
