What’s On Roundup 23-29 March 2024

A group of Dads with their young children in front of soft play equipment

Here’s a roundup of some the main events taking place over the coming week in South Leeds. For full listings go over to our What’s On calendar here.

We start this week with Leeds Dads who will be holding another free Soft Play session, 10am-12pm on Saturday morning at Little Angels behind the Tommy Wass pub, LS11 7HL. This is for dads and pre-school children and there’s free tea and toast! Book: leedsdads.org/events

Read With Dad, 2-3pm on Saturday at Hunslet Community Hub & Library pretty much does what it says on the tin – a chance for Dads to read with their children. There are stories and rhymes, snacks and play, and a craft activity to join in with.

Did you know that every month Holbeck Together host a two-course Sunday lunch at St Matthew’s Community Centre? It’s £5 for the meal – and £3.50 for transport – with home delivery also available. Call to reserve your meal for this Sunday: (0113) 245 5553.

The Friends of Middleton Park have organised a litter pick in the park on Sunday. Meet at the Visitor Centre by the lake at 1pm, equipment will be provided but please bring your own gloves.

On Monday evening Beeston Hill Community Association are hosting a Community Iftar (breaking of the Ramadan fast) at the Hamara Centre on Tempest Road. Booking essential via this link. This a chance to find out more about your neighbours and share some delicious food.

The Holbeck Cemetery volunteers will out on Wednesday to tidy the cemetery. If you would like to join them meet at 10am near the main gate on Fairfax Road, LS11 8SY. Wear sturdy shoes and dress for the weather, equipment will be provided.

On Thursday morning MHA South Leeds are running their monthly local history and reminiscence session ‘Hunslet Remembered’. It’s at Hunslet Community Hub & Library from 10am-12pm.

On Good Friday you are invited to join a treasure hunt at Skelton Grange Environment Centre’s Easter Trail. The family event, which will involve chocolate, is a fundraiser for the centre. Tickets are available here.

And finally, Hunslet RLFC take on Keighley Cougars under the lights at South Leeds Stadium. Kick off is at 7:30pm, but get down early to support Hunslet legend Steve Pryce as his teammates rally and take on West Bowling ARLFC. Match tickets are available online at: hunsletrflc.ticketco.events/uk/
