Rugby League family rallies for Prycie

Hunslet RLFC legend Steve Pryce and former teammates will take on West Bowling and Normanton Knights before Hunslet’s Good Friday fixture against Keighley on 29 March 2024.

The event is one of many fundraisers planned to support Steve’s ongoing battle against Alzheimer’s. The game is being organised by Steve’s former team mate Dave Jessey, who said:

“Steve was diagnosed with the onset of dementia in 2022 and it is sad to see how this terrible illness is affecting him. Sympathy only goes so far though and we are all keen to play our part in ensuring Steve is looked after.”

Steve’s lifelong friend Chris Minchella expanded:

“Steve’s lived with me for the last 2 and half years and my partner Emma and I feel that we can continue to do this with the conversion of our garage into a bedroom and living area for him, to give him some independence, before he has to go into care, which hopefully is a long way off. We have mates from West Bowling offering their time free of charge with the trades we will be needing to get this sorted.”

Dave added:

“Former teammates have paid for the privilege to play in the game and supporters can play their part by purchasing the special edition shirts online. We are also planning a golf day so please look out for further details of how to get involved.”
