Here’s a roundup of some the main events taking place over the coming week in South Leeds. For full listings go over to our What’s On calendar here.
We start this week in Cottingley, where you’ll find car washing and tea making at the Community Centre. The fundraising Cash Wash aims to wash 100 cars and sell 100 cups of tea. So for once we’re encouraging you to drive, rather than walk, to Cottingley Community Centre on Saturday between 11am-2pm.
The Hunslet Club host their annual Summer Gala on Saturday afternoon from 12pm. It open to everyone, so if you’ve never been down to the Hillidge Road club this is a great opportunity to find out all about the great work they do, whilst having a fun packed afternoon.
Pooch-proud dog owners have a choice of two community dog shows to show off their hound, both on Sunday afternoon.
Friends of Middleton Park’s show runs 1-4pm with registration from 12pm at the Visitor Centre.
Friends of Cross Flatts Park’s show at 2:30pm, with registrations from 1:30pm. It was postponed due to the extreme heat last weekend and is part of the final Bands In the Park concert which features the nature-themed music of Birds & Beasts.
Sunday is also the date for the monthly Leeds Dads meet up, open to all dads and their pre-school children. It all takes place at The Holbeck club on Jenkinson Lawn, Sunday 2-4pm.
Middleton Railway will start their Wednesday diesel service for the school holidays. Trains run on Wednesdays (as well as weekends) through to the end of August, 10:30am-3:30pm.
And finally, on Friday it’s the Beeston & Holbeck ward Councillors surgeries … from 4pm at Beeston Community Hub & Library, Town Street; from 5pm at The Holbeck, Jenkinson Lawn; and from 6pm at Cottingley Community Centre.
