Learn some new skills, meet some new people and get out in the fresh air with a range of free volunteering events at Skelton Grange Environment Centre.
The environmental education centre, hidden away in a beautiful green space by the River Aire near Hunslet, gives children and young people from all over Leeds the opportunity to find out more about the natural world and their local environment through hands-on outdoor activities.
And you can get involved by joining in with the monthly Friday Green Team volunteering days. From jam-making to hedge cutting, there’s a wide variety of practical tasks to join in with. No experience needed, just energy and enthusiasm!
The full range of volunteering days for the rest of 2011 can be found on the centre’s website, along with details of how to book your free place, and how to find the centre.
Can’t make it on a Friday? Then come along to the Friends of Skelton Grange’s Community Volunteering Day on Sunday 12th June from 12-5pm, and get involved with some practical work in the summer sun. The group will also be holding their AGM – your chance to input into the group’s plans for the next year. To find out more visit the website here.
