Update regarding bin collections in Leeds

Due to the very difficult frozen snow and icy conditions on roads and paths resulting from the heavy snow yesterday, bin collections are suspended today (Friday 15 January 2021). Household Waste Recycling Centres (HWRCs) will also remain closed.

We are continuing to review closely the weather forecast and conditions on our roads, streets and paths to see if collections can potentially resume at the weekend. Updates will be provided on our social media channels as soon as a final decision is made. In terms of any collections that have been missed, we will try and collect missed bins early next week and be prioritising black bins. If your bin is not collected by Tuesday then please take it in and wait until the next collection.

Anyone with a slot booked today at a HWRC are asked to please rebook, and again we would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused. The decision has being made in the best interests of customers and staff safety. We are hopeful that HWRCs will be able to open tomorrow.

Leeds City Council staff will be continuing to work throughout the day to ensure that primary routes in the city and areas around key facilities such as vaccination centres continue to be gritted.

Please keep any eye on the council’s social media channels for further updates regarding the potential resumption of bin collections and reopening of HWRCs.
