Speak To The Streets and The Hunslet Club in south Leeds are throwing their full support behind Trinity Warriors, the sensational breakdance crew who are through to the live final of Sky 1’s Got To Dance at 6pm next Sunday with a chance to win £250,000.
The talented young dancers from Derby have been regular winners of the monthly breakdance battles hosted by the Hunslet Club and Speak To The Streets, the Pat Regan Legacy. Says Shane Fenton, organiser of the events, “Trinity Warriors should win Got To Dance, they are arguably the best dancers we’ve ever had at Speak To The Streets and they are such positive role models for the young people of Leeds.”

Says Ryan Williams, Breakdance tutor at the Hunslet Club, “ These kids are simply amazing and it has been fantastic watching them when they take part in the breakdance battles hosted at the club, we are very pleased seeing them do so well in a national television competition and we are all behind them, wish them every success and urge viewers in Leeds to give them their vote!”
Speak To The Streets was founded by Shane Regan, following the tragic death of his mother, community campaigner – Pat Regan. The project aims to use hip hop culture as a positive tool to work with young people in inner city communities. Breakdance battles have become a popular monthly event at the Hunslet Club attracting breakdance enthusiasts from across the north to take part.
Says Shane Fenton, “It is important we take our work to different communities. I have always maintained that when Youth Clubs were closed in the 1980s it only served to increase the prison intake. The Hunslet Club has kept going throughout all this, kept the kids busy and we have been working with them closely over the last few months to ensure we have a high profile monthly event for the kids and families to enjoy with a strong positive message”.
The next breakdance battle takes place 1pm Saturday 2nd April at the Hunslet Club.
Any dancer, from beginner to advanced level, is welcome at the event. Further details can be found at www.hunsletclub.org.uk or by ringing 0113 2716489.
