The get-togethers take place on the first Tuesday of every month in the lounge of the Hunslet Carr Sports & Social Club, next to Arthington Medical Centre. There’s plenty of car parking.

We are in our 10th year of the reunion.

It’s for old pupils who went to Hunslet Carr School in the 1940s & 50s & is run by myself & Keith Naylor, who is in his 70s (I’m in my 60s). So we have a range of age groups coming from 60 years olds to 90 years olds. We are in Yorkshire Evening Post what’s on guide & appeared in Friends Reunited.

Many of us went from Hunslet Carr, to Belle Isle Secondary Modern & other schools. So we do also tend to get a following from there as well.

Pupils bring along photos of the old days to look through over a few drinks. We talk about the old school days, when Hunslet Carr School was well known for coaching various Rugby teams. Some of these pupils went onto play for Hunslet Rugby Club (now named Hunslet Hawks).

We also hold, when numbers permit, an annual reunion held in January. This in the past has been at the Hunslet Hawks Rugby Club. Last year we had a change of venue at the Parnaby Tavern. We had a buffet, disco, raffle prizes and a quiz. A good time was had by all. Around 80 turned up for this Annual event. In the past, one or two of our old school teachers turn up for the annual event . I’m afraid, as you might expect, not many of our old teachers are left.

Why not come and join us. In the past when we have had new people turn up, they seem to know at least one other in the group.

Next get together is 4th June & every 1st Tuesday in the month after that. You will be made most welcome.
