Supermarket giants Asda are encouraging local residents to give their feedback on plans for a new store off Old Lane, Beeston.
As previously reported, Asda has submitted plans f0r a 2,000 sq ft store which will create 100 jobs to the rear of the site of its current store which Asda inherited when it took over Netto. The plans followed hot on the heels of Tesco submitting proposals for a supermarket on Old Lane.
An ASDA spokesperson said the plans would add an ‘attractive’ building to the heart of Beeston:
“We are confident that a brand new Asda store will deliver a range of benefits that will be felt both by Asda customers and colleagues alike.
“Many people currently travel further afield to carry out their main food shopping. A new larger Asda store would strongly encourage shoppers to stay local, retaining trade within Beeston and the immediate area. This would result in a significant long-term boost to the local economy.”
Local residents can see more information and tell Asda what they think of the plans, which include a 195-space car park, by going to www.asdabeeston.co.uk. Fliers can also be picked up in the current store.
