Team GB athlete Sarah Davies made a special appearance at Hunslet Carr Primary School to help deliver an immersive workshop in partnership with British Gas.
Part of the ‘Get Set for Positive Energy’ roadshow, the interactive session brought energy-saving education to life through a series of exciting challenges, with 90 pupils taking part and meeting Sarah.
Children learned about reducing energy consumption while also getting to grips with the Olympic and Paralympic Values and hearing about Sarah’s inspiring journey.
From designing energy-saving posters to discovering which of the British Gas ‘The Things’ characters waste the most energy, the workshop saw the pupils earn points and work as a team to power the local swimming pool, helping them to understand the importance of energy saving in a fun and accessible way.
In between each activity, Sarah led energising physical Power Up sessions to keep minds and bodies active.

“Our students learned so much from the session with Sarah Davies and British Gas – and had plenty of fun along the way too!
“It was great to see them so engaged on important topics that will set them up for their futures, including conscious energy consumption and how to lead healthy lifestyles. Sarah also did a brilliant job of inspiring the children with her athlete journey. A big thank you goes to the whole team for visiting us.”

The Get Set for Positive Energy roadshow is part of British Gas’ wider Get Set for Positive Energy initiative, a free cross-curricular programme for young people aged five to 11. Through the partnership with Team GB and ParalympicsGB, British Gas aims to reach up to 8,500 schools and 1.5 million young people and families across the UK by 2028, inspiring the next generation to build healthier, more sustainable habits.
This summer, the roadshow will visit four different schools, with Olympic and Paralympic athletes delivering workshops that combine physical activity, energy-saving education, and the Olympic and Paralympic Values.
