Both Middleton Railway and Beeston in Bloom won Gold Medals at this year’s Yorkshire in Bloom Awards. The Middleton Railway, entering for the fifth time, wonl in the Tourist Attractions, Stately Homes and Pay on Entry Gardens Category. On top of that, they were the joint winner in this category
Beeston in Bloom don’t really need an excuse to hang bunting, we just love the how it cheers up Beeston Road. However, we think the 80th anniversary of the D Day landings should be commemorated. It was an added bonus that the sun was shining on Sunday (2 June 2024)
The Lord Mayor of Leeds, Cllr Al Garthwaite, attended Cross Flatts Park in Beeston this morning (12 March 2024) to unveil not one, but two plaques. First up was a plaque to mark Beeston in Bloom’s Gold Medal awarded by Yorkshire in Bloom last year. It goes next to plaques
Last September, Beeston in Bloom and the Friends of Cross Flatts Park took part in the Leeds Heritage Open Days event. This included tours of the park and a display in the café of the park, past and present. It was a great success and showed the desire of local people
The results are in from this year’s Yorkshire in Bloom awards showing that both Middleton Railway and Beeston in Bloom have won Gold, with Beeston also winning joint best in category. As we reported last month, Beeston In Bloom have been fundraising to install a special bench to mark the Coronation of King Charles III. The bench has now been installed outside St Andrew’s Methodist Church on Old Lane, in time for the big event on Saturday (6 May 2023). Linda
It doesn’t seem that long since we were celebrating the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee – hanging out bunting, painting everything purple and holding tea parties. This year we are celebrating again and it’s something that many of you will not have experienced before – the coronation of a new monarch. Beeston
And this year there will be twenty of them to see in St Mary’s Beeston from the 7-12 December. Beeston in Bloom and St Mary’s have joined forces and invited local schools and other groups to decorate a tree in a way which represents them. We can’t wait to see
Three Gold Awards were handed to organisations in South Leeds at the recent Yorkshire in Bloom awards ceremony. Beeston in Bloom won in the Urban Community category; Middleton Railway in the Tourist Attraction category; and White Rose Shopping Centre in the Large Business category where it was joint Category Winner.
Sadly, one of the post box toppers made for Beeston In Bloom has disappeared from the box outside Old Lane Post Office, but investigators have identified that it was removed by a group of children. The topper, representing Autumn, is one of four made by the knitting and crochet group
