Sunday (17 September 2017) sees Hunslet RLFC take on the London Skolars for the first of two games that will determine destination of the League 1 Shield.
Both clubs have already qualified for the League 1 shield final which will take place next week. London currently sit top of the League 1 shield rankings one point ahead of Hunslet going into the last game of the campaign.
Hunslet need to win the game to finish top of the league table after the regular season and claim home advantage in the final next week. A defeat for Hunslet would mean finishing in second place and having to make the long journey south to London to play the final.
Hunslet have had a poor season, finishing in the bottom half of the table, but have played consistently well through the Shield campaign. They players have been praised by Head Coach Gary Thornton for professionalism, putting 60 points on the board against both South Wales Ironmen and Hemel Stags in their last two games.
Sunday’s match, which kicks off at 3pm at the South Leeds Stadium, is a chance for Hunslet to take something from the season and take some momentum into next year’s campaign.
