St Lukes CARES launches new community fund

South Leeds Life has teamed up with St Luke’s CARES to give community projects in South Leeds the chance to win up to £1,000 AND get some free publicity.

St Luke’s CARES have committed £2,000 of money raised from their charity shop on Dewsbury Road to be given out in 3 awards to local community groups in South Leeds.

The charity will accept nominations from the beginning of January to the end of February, with a community panel choosing the best 5 in March which will then be put to the public vote at the charity shop in April 2018.

To enter all you’ll need to do is write an article for South Leeds Life. Keep the article to under 500 words and tell us:

  • About the project you want to nominate
  • What work it does in the local community
  • And how it would spend the cash!

The charity’s manager Jackson Turner said: “We are really excited about the Community Awards. There are some great projects out there which we need to celebrate. And the best bit is you can spend the money on what project want and need.”

First place wins £1,000, second place £750 and third place £250.

To enter the competition, all you need to do is send an article to South Leeds Life with a photo. You can use our Create an article for South Leeds Life page, or send an email to info@southleedslife.com.

All entries will have their stories published online. Shortlisted projects will be featured in our April newspaper.
The winners will be chosen by people voting at the shop in April. With the winners presented their awards in May 2018. Get your articles at the ready!
