Tuesday 7 April saw around 30 local children descend on the South Leeds Stadium for the start of the Hunslet Hawks‘ Easter Activity and Dance Camp.
The camp ran for three days giving young people from the local community a chance to participate in a range of different sports and activities including football, rounders, cricket and of course some rugby league. We were very lucky with the weather too, with three days of wonderful sunshine.
As well as being a great way to keep busy during the school holidays it was also a good way for young people and children to socialise and make new friends as many of them were from different schools and areas of South Leeds but by the end of camp everyone was like old friends. It wasn’t all just about sport though, we also had a quiz and everyone joined in with some dancing and learnt a routine with some of our dance academy girls which they performed for their parents on the last day.
Overall the camp was a massive success and a great time was had by all, including the staff and we can’t wait for the summer to arrive for the next one!
Then on Sunday (12 April 2015) after a slight delay due to torrential weather the Hawks Dance Academy were finally able to host their annual pitch side Easter Bonnet parade.
All contestants did a wonderful job creating unique Easter themed bonnets. Hawks General Manager Peter Todd judged the contest once again and selected the winner, Poppy, who was excited to receive an array of prizes.
