A talented nine-year-old from Middleton has been crowned a national pageant winner after an incredible weekend competing at Miss Glamour UK in Dover.
Harper Jean Cook travelled to the prestigious competition this weekend, where she competed in the Junior category for girls aged 9–12. Despite only being eight years old when entering the competition season, Harper decided to challenge herself by moving up an age group after a hugely successful year as Mini Queen.
Last year, Harper won her age group in the Mini section and, encouraged by her progress and dedication, made the bold decision to compete against older contestants this year.
Her hard work paid off in spectacular fashion. After raising £300 for Glamour UK’s chosen charity, Harper went on to win Best in Interview for her age group as well as the Public Vote Award, before ultimately taking home the national junior title.
In an age where many contestants choose glamorous makeup looks, Harper made the confident decision to take to the stage embracing her natural beauty instead.
Harper’s mum said:
“We are so proud of her. She trains three days a week and is always going out doing community appearances. We wanted to push Harper to see how she would do against the bigger girls because she has worked so hard all year as Mini Queen.”
Outside of pageantry, Harper is passionate about helping her local community and hopes to continue making a positive impact throughout the year. Her future plans include taking part in litter-picking events and attending more local community appearances and charity events across Leeds.
With determination, confidence and kindness beyond her years, Harper is already proving to be an inspiring young role model in her community.
