SLATE presents Beeston’s first Vintage Fair

 

Vintage Fairs selling retro clothes, furniture and jewellery amongst many other things are the retail sensation of the last few years. Now South Leeds charity SLATE is bringing a vintage fair to Beeston.

Hillside, the former Victorian school building on Beeston Road, will be the venue on Saturday 28 September. SLATE are promising 18 different stalls, 2 vintage singers, jive dancing and the amazing vintage ice cream selling tricycle. There will also be a furniture up-styling room with experts demonstrating lampshade making, upholstery, mosaicking and painting furniture.

SLATE run the Feel Good Café at Hillside and will be serving vintage tea parties all day. Catherine Mary Sings will be entertaining customers with some old jazz standard favourites plus the odd show tune on a special little stage in the Tea Rooms.

It’s going to be a busy day with over 175 people already signed up to attend via Facebook.

Stallholders will include

A late booking came in from Allen and Sandra who have spent a lifetime collecting vintage jewellery, furniture and home wares and have decided now is the time to sell it all.

In the up-styling room you can watch free up-styling demonstrations all day long, including No Stripping Studio demonstrating chalk paint shabby chic furniture, Lily Loves Lampshades making thrifty lamps and Seagulls Reuse demonstrating mosaicking furniture. Nicola Firth Upholstery will be part of the up styling room. She will be upholstering lots of chairs, making some fabulous cushions and maybe a footstool or two. This is your chance to have a go and ask the expert.

The Fair runs from 10:30am to 4pm on Saturday 28th September at Hillside, Beeston Road, LS11 8ND.

SLATE is a charity encouraging recycling and re-use and providing employment and volunteering opportunities to people with learning difficulties. They run the Feel Good Furniture Shop on Low Road in Hunslet and the Feel Good Cafe at Hillside in Beeston.
