South Leeds Life is a collaborative blog. Eight of us, some linked to organisations, some not, got together last November to start writing about South Leeds. We get together every month or so to see how it’s going, share ideas, ask questions and generally see how we can improve things.
We met this morning in Beeston over a cup of tea. First up John Baron told us about a linked project he’s working on through Health For All – a print magazine, also called South Leeds Life will be published shortly. You’ll be able to find out a lot more about it when John posts the details here next week.
We looked at our statistics for the site, which we are rather pleased with. Here’s a run down:
- Coming up on 11,000 hits (page views) since we started
- Averaging 40 hits per day
- 137 posts (articles) by 13 authors
- 134 comments from you, the readers
- We have 191 followers on Twitter (@SouthLeedsLife)
We went on to discuss how we could make the site work better technically with some new features. We use WordPress.com which is a free platform and so far we haven’t spent any money. If we moved to wordpress.org we could do more whizzy things, but it costs. We are going to see if we can raise the money, it should be only a few hundred pounds.
Any changes will make South Leeds Life easier to use, but the core of the blog is the writing and that’s where you come in. We would love to have more people writing for South Leeds Life. You don’t have to write loads – if you’ve got one issue you want to share with the community that’s a great place to start. Please get in touch by emailing us at southleedslife@gmail.com. South Leeds Life will be better and more interesting for having more voices.
