Residents urged to attend next SPLASH meeting

Residents in Beeston and Holbeck are being urged to attend the next meeting of the SPLASH campaign to reopen South Leeds Sports Centre.

Could a new primary school be built here?

Following on from a high-profile bonfire night protest earlier this month, SPLASH organisers are encouraging people to attend their next meeting, which will be on Monday, December 5, at Hillside at 7pm. They’re hoping to build momentum in their campaign to reopen the loss-making centre which was closed last November.

A possible protest when the Olympic torch comes through Beeston could be on the agenda.

Leeds council has identified the sports centre area as a possible site for a new primary school, while Greenhouse developers Citu have been exploring the possibility of opening eco-friendly sports facilities on the site.
