Please help the Beeston 2012 Olympics!

Beeston festival unites the community in Cross Flatts Park each year

Organisers behind the annual Beeston Festival are planning to mark the London 2012 Olympics in a big way in South Leeds – by organising their own mini-Olympics.

The event in Cross Flatts Park will be held just a couple of weeks before the actual Olympic torch passes through South Leeds.

And they’re calling on local residents to help make the big day go with a bang by asking them to help organise Beeston’s Olympics at the annual Beeston Festival. Anyone interested can attend a planning meeting tomorrow – Tuesday 24 January – at Hillside at 6pm.

Organisers are also considering a Beeston Festival Fringe in the run up to this year’s event and are appealing for people to join in.

Put Saturday, 9 June,  in your diaries – it’s going to be a Beeston Festival to remember!

Beeston Festival is organised by a committee of local residents, providing an exciting, entertaining and informative day that brings together all the different communities in Beeston.

It hopes to promote racial harmony, local regeneration, community sports and arts, and environmental education and positively portray both Beeston and Cross Flatts Park. Email them at: beestonfestival@googlemail.com or follow them on Twitter @beestonfestival.
