  1. It is interesting that the planning statement for vacant land at Gipsy Lane makes no reference to the fact that the land is within the greenbelt, though it acknowledges that the land is part of the urban green corridor. At the time of sale Councillor Andrew Scopes raised concerns regarding future usage of this plot and was assured any future development proposals would need to come forward in the context of greenbelt policy. The site is predominantly vegetation and would make an ideal outdoor learning environment for children to learn about wildlife and habitats, fitting in with the new GCSE in Natural History. The school has always prioritised safeguarding children and this site provides a safe space. A School Street initiative for Gipsy Lane provides an excellent solution to tackle the traffic issues at peak arrival and departure times. There are also other schemes such as car sharing, bike loans and free bus passes to encourage staff to leave their cars at home. These initiatives should be explored first before creating a third car park and encouraging more traffic and air pollution around the school.
