From Monday (20 January 2020) Leeds City Council will be undertaking night-time road works on Hunslet Road as part of its Connecting Leeds project to create a bus priority corridor along the route to the new Park & Ride at Stourton and on to Wakefield.
Ducting works will be carried out at various locations along the A61 to install cabling across roads for new traffic signals. The works will be undertaken at night from 8pm till 6am and temporary, localised lane closures will be implemented whilst the works are carried out.
In a statement the Council say:
“These works can be noisy, however we have planned them to be as non-disruptive as possible. The loudest activities will be undertaken first on each shift and we will also be using noise control barrier panels.”
Some locations will require temporary dedicated lane closures and signed diversion routes will be provided in these instances.
Dates and locations:
20 to 21 January, A61 at the junction of South Accommodation Road
22 to 24 January, A61 at the junction of Leathley Road
Please note these dates are indicative and may change slightly
Temporary dedicated lane closures:
- Closure of the right turn lane from Hunslet Road (outbound) into Leathley Road
- Closure of the left turn from Hunlset Road (inbound) into Leathley Road
- Closure of the right turn lane from Sayner Road into Hunslet Road
- Closure of the right turn lane from Leathley Road into Hunslet Road
- Closure of the left turn lane from Leathley Road into Hunslet Road.
These temporary lane closures will take place between 8.30pm–6am.
From 20 January 2020 the existing right turn into Butterley Street from the outbound A61 will be removed. Access will be replaced via a new U-turn facility at Brookfield Street, please refer to the drawing.
