Major roadworks are set to begin on Monday 17 February 2025 on Ring Road Beeston Park between the Tommy Wass junction on Dewsbury Road and the junction with Town Street in Middleton.
The carriageway, which is badly potholed, will be resurfaced over a ten week period.
The first two phases of work; Town Street to Bodmin Road; and Bodmin Road to Parkwood Road are scheduled to take place between 9:30am-3pm Monday to Friday and 8am-3pm Saturdays and Sundays.
The third phase, the Parkwood Road junction will be carried out between 6-11:30pm Monday to Friday evenings.
Temporary traffic lights will be used to control traffic during the works. Additionally the junctions of Ring Road Beeston Park with Town Street and Bodmin Approach will be closed during works hours from Monday 17 February and Sunday 2 March.
Follow up white lining and traffic signal loop replacement will follow completion of the resurfacing work.
A spokesperson for Leeds City Council said:
“These works, on such a key route for many, have been planned wholly around the needs of the travelling public and neighbouring properties in the best possible way so as to limit disruption whilst delivering this road scheme as part of our commitment to maintaining and improving the highway network.
“We have restricted the majority of works to off-peak working so as to keep disruption to a minimum, we will also utilise the weekends to reduce the overall duration and there will be some evening work towards the end in the vicinity of the signalised junctions as this area is very traffic sensitive. Due to many residential properties any significant noise generated activities are planned to cease by 23:00 with our removal from site shortly after, subject to any unforeseen matters arising.”
Cllr Andrew Scopes (Labour, Beeston & Holbeck) commented:
“Resurfacing of this road is much needed and so, while the disruption will be difficult during the work, it will hopefully mean a smoother journey when completed.”

About time, this road is shocking and dangerous. I nearly had a head on collision due to a vehicle entering my side of the road to avoid the pot holes on their side
