Middleton Railway ‘Highly Commended’ at tourism awards

The Middleton Railway is delighted to announce that we have been awarded a “Highly Commended” certificate for “Small Attraction of the Year” category in the Visit Yorkshire White Rose Awards for 2018.

Members of Middleton Railway Trust’s board receive their award from Sir Gary Verity

The judges commented:

“The building in which the Trust is housed is modern, light and welcoming, ideally suited for its purpose.  We were greeted by a very friendly volunteer who took time to explain all that was on offer and ensured we knew when the next train departures were taking place.”

“It was evident that there was plenty of opportunity for younger visitors to interact such as brass rubbings of engine plates, train jigsaws and visual interpretations.”

“We were made to feel very much at ease at this attraction and clearly younger guests loved it.”

The judges also commented favourably upon the railway’s website, www.middletonrailway.org.uk

The Middleton Railway is pleased that we have been recognised by the judges in this way – the comments are a tribute to the dedication of our hard working volunteers, without whom this would not have been possible.

This award firmly places the Middleton Railway in the tourism “to do” list for the area and we look forward to entering the Awards competition in future years when we hope to take away the top prize.
