Middleton man one of three charged with Crossgates murder

Detectives investigating the death of a girl in Leeds have charged three people with murder.

Archie Rycroft, aged 19, of Middleton Park Road in Leeds and Kayla Smith, aged 18, of Kennerleigh Avenue in Leeds  have been remanded in custody to appear before Leeds Magistrates’ Court today (Tuesday 31 March 2026).

They will appear along with a 17-year-old boy who cannot be named for legal reasons.

All three self-define their ethnicities as White British.

The charges relate to the death of Chloe Watson Dransfield, 16, who died in hospital after being found with stab wounds in Austhorpe on Saturday (28 March).

A further man, who is 18 and from Leeds, has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody.

An 18-year-old woman and a 17-year-old boy who were arrested on suspicion of murder have been released on bail pending further enquiries.
