Lance Corporal Adam Blackburn, 29, of Middleton, has sent us this good news story:

I’ve been serving in the regular Army for nine years now, serving in the Royal signals and based in York with 2nd Signal regiment (2 Sigs).

I’ve served all over the world, including Afghanistan. I am due to go back there this year in November for six months.

On Wednesday 9th May 2012  I played in the Army FA Challenge cup final at Aldershot military stadium. Our opponents were Germany based 2nd Royal Regiment of Fusiliers (2RRF) who had already won the Infantry cup and British Army Germany cup.

2 Sigs were victorious winning 2 – 0. The competition has a 112 year old history and is the biggest football competition to win in the Army.
