Middleton Elderly Aid Seek A New Treasurer

We received this request for help from Dawn Austwick at Middleton Elderly Aid:

Middleton Elderly Aid (M.E.A.) would like to appoint a suitably qualified/experienced person to act as Treasurer (and Director) from Autumn this year. M.E.A. is a Charity and a Company limited by guarantee and is one of the Leeds Neighbourhood Network Schemes. We work hard to support older people in the Middleton area to live safely and independently in their own homes. We operate a wide variety of support services for our members.

IMG_0063The Charity receives funding from Leeds City Council and has income via the Middleton Elderly Aid Community Shops. It also benefits annually from a variety of grant funding. With an annual budget regularly in the region of £140,000 we require a committed and suitably capable Treasurer to help us manage our finances. The staff maintain the accounts throughout the year and an Independent Financial Examiner prepares and certifies the year end accounts. The Treasurer/Director’s role is to ensure the accounts are properly maintained, an annual budget is prepared in consultation with the  Chief Officer and the Board and then progress is reviewed at each Board Meeting. The Treasurer also works with the Board on the general running of the Charity.

The Treasurer is expected to attend most Board meetings which are at present held approximately every 6 weeks, on a Tuesday starting at 4.30 pm at the Charity’s office. These meeting usually last for between one and two hours. All reasonable out of pocket expenses considered.

Application forms can be requested from: Dawn Austwick, Middleton Elderly Aid, 18 Middleton Park Road, Leeds, LS10 3ST
