Man shot in Beeston feud

Inspector Jon Arrowsuch of the Inner South Neighbourhood Policing Team issued this statement to local community leaders this afternoon:

“I just wanted to make you aware of, and provide an update in relation to an incident which took place earlier this morning at Middleton Crescent.  Between 0700 and 0800 this morning a male was shot whilst leaving his home address for work.  The male is currently in hospital and his injuries are not thought to be life threatening.

west york police“This is a targeted attack in relation to an ongoing investigation and it is not believed that the public are in any danger at this time, although I accept that this is an extremely serious incident and there was a real danger that an innocent bystander could have been injured had circumstances been different.

“We have a dedicated team of specialist detectives working on this matter and the wider investigation and this will continue until the issue is resolved.

“We also have additional and specially trained officers conducting patrols and wider enquiries in the area.  This will include some armed officers, although it should be noted that Leeds does deploy armed officers on a daily basis as part of our day to day responsibilities.

“I hope you will understand that I am not able to provide any further detail at this time as the investigation is at an early stage but please rest assured that the matter has the utmost attention of the resources available to us and we are doing all we can to bring about a swift resolution.

    “rest assured that the matter has the utmost attention of the resources available to us and we are doing all we can to bring about a swift resolution.”

    Notice the qualification in the statement – “resources available to us”
    Is he suggesting the reason this has been going on for so long is that the police don’t have the time or money to do anything about it?
    Maybe they just need to get on Facebook? Seems everyone in Beeston appears to know who these people are..
