Let’s help SLATE win national reuse award

SLATE, the Hunslet-based reuse charity is in the running to be recognised as the 2017 Reuse Organisation of the Year – but they need your votes.

SLATE runs the Feel Good Furniture Shop on Low Road in Hunslet and The Feel Good Cafe at Hillside in Beeston. It was set up to provide supported volunteering and employment opportunities to people with learning disabilities, but they do a lot more than that.

With the slogan caring for the people, planet and community, the offer affordable second hand furniture to people in need and divert perfectly usable furniture and white goods going to landfill. In the last year alone 6 SLATE volunteers have moved into employment and the charity has diverted 113 tonnes of goods away from landfill.

The charity has developed over the years and have recently developed partnerships with John Lewis and Dunelm Mill to help find unwanted goods a new home.

SLATE now need your help to be properly recognised by the Furniture Reuse Network nationally as the Organisation of the Year.
