Leeds Refugees create play for Refugee Week

Mafwa Theatre are a group of women with refugee and asylum seeking status in Leeds, who have created a performance for Refugee Week 2018. “Women of Power” aims to share the struggles, rituals and moments both beautiful and strange, which the cast experience on a day to day basis, using music, song and movement.

The performance, which will also include live music and food, is on Saturday (23 June 2018) at the Howard Assembly Rooms, New Briggate from 4-6pm.

Mafwa Theatre hold weekly, free drama sessions for women at Leeds Refugee Forum. All proceeds from the event will go towards sustaining the group and future performances.
