Leeds Knights win the League

Leeds Knights are standing tall at the top of the NIHL (National Ice Hockey League) table after winning the division for the second season in a row.

Going into the match against Sheffield Steeldogs on Sunday (24 March 2024) the Knights had already won the league, and produced another high class performance. The match ended in a 6-3 win for Leeds in a battling performance.

As the first period of the match unfolded Leeds took control and ended the stronger side. The Ice Hockey club, who formed in 2019 and play at Planet Ice on Elland Road, have won the league twice in two years. The sport has increased in popularity in the city of Leeds and a successful season has helped gather more support.

The NIHL is the second tier of Ice Hockey in Britain, there is no promotion or relegation from the league.

The NIHL season, which began in September, ends on Monday 31 March with Leeds Knights playing Hull Seahawks at the Hull Ice Arena.

Leeds Knights have been up for the battle in consecutive seasons and now prepare to celebrate another title win, whilst Sheffield Steeldogs finish 10th out of 11 teams.
