Leeds Dock To Host Full Weekend Of Free Outdoor Cinema Screenings

Leeds Dock deckchairDuring the last weekend in August, Leeds Dock (formerly Clarence Dock) is excited to play host to exclusive outdoor screenings of four family-friendly movies, courtesy of Sneaky Experience. All of the screenings are completely free and will take place directly outside the Royal Armouries Museum. People aren’t required to purchase any tickets, they simply just need to turn up!

Saturday 30 August
On ‘Cult Saturday’ we are screening ‘Frozen Sing Along’, the animated hit with on-screen lyrics, so EVERYONE can join in! This will be followed by cult classic ‘The Princess Bride’ – simply one of the best fairy-tales ever!

Frozen, Sing Along – Saturday, 1pm
We are delighted to bring you this interactive movie sing along edition of Frozen (not out on DVD until November). Sing along to the lyrics on screen and ‘LET IT GO’! You, the audience are the stars. Remember to dress up as your favourite character. It’s the most popular comedy-adventure to hit the big screen this year and add the fairydust of Singalonga and you are guaranteed a great time.

When a prophecy traps a kingdom in eternal winter, Anna, a fearless optimist, teams up with extreme mountain man Kristoff and his sidekick reindeer Sven on an epic journey to find Anna”s sister Elsa, the Snow Queen, and put an end to her icy spell. Encountering mystical trolls, a funny snowman named Olaf, Everest-like extremes and magic at every turn, Anna and Kristoff battle the elements in a race to save the kingdom from destruction. It’s the movie that shows you that you would do anything for your sister. Sooooo “Do you wanna build a snowman …”

In addition to the film, we’ll have some interactive theatrical performances … which of course will involve favourite scenes from the film!

The Princess Bride – Saturday, 7pm
Simply one of the best fairy tales ever – full of lost love, mighty swordplay, slippery poison, evil princes, a gentle giant and a beautiful princess. Remember those epic lines … “My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die” … Inconceivable to miss!

Sunday 31 August
Join us on ‘Dino Day’ – a must for all dinosaur lovers young and old, where we will fill the dino void in your life!

The Land Before Time – Sunday, 1pm
In the film that started it all. An earthquake separates the main characters from their families, and they set off to reunite with them as they embark on an adventure to The Great Valley. They face dangers such as starvation, Sharpteeth, and splitting up. In addition to the film, we’ll have dinosaur related children’s activities, so be sure to arrive on time.

Dinosaur 13 – Sunday, 6pm.
Join us for the West Yorkshire premiere of this most talked about documentary about dinosaurs! With documentary legend Michael Moore calling it “One of the best documentaries of the year — by far” this is an absolute must see.

When Palaeontologist Peter Larson and his team from the Black Hills Institute made the world’s greatest dinosaur discovery in 1990, they knew it was the find of a lifetime: the largest, most complete Tyrannosaurus Rex ever found. But during a ten-year battle with the U.S. government, powerful museums, Native American tribes and competing palaeontologists, they found themselves not only fighting to keep their dinosaur but fighting for their freedom as well.
All screenings will take place directly outside The Royal Armouries Museum. Bring your garden chairs and blankets. Food and a licensed bar will be available throughout the film screenings. Be sure to arrive early to secure a great spot.
