Learning disability is no block as Sky Fallers band rocks on

Sky Fallers are a band with a difference. Playing rock, pop, folk and blues, the South Leeds band includes four adults with learning disabilities.

The band was formed in November 2014 and performs public engagements regularly. The core band is a six piece ensemble with four learning disabled adults and two staff members from Aspire Community Benefit Society who act as musical facilitators and coordinators.

Sky Fallers use full PA amplification for their line up of two lead singers, electric guitars, bass, drum kit, keyboards, flute, trumpet and clarinet. Their set includes well known songs from the Fifties right through to contemporary hits and some original material.

Sky Fallers also offer participative music workshops with drum circles, singalongs and song requests. Sky Fallers members work as music animateurs giving participants chance to have a band accompanied experience at a high level.

Sky Fallers 02Interested individuals can be invited to join Sky Fallers at planned rehearsal ‘open hour’ slots where they will work material up to performance standard. This includes players and singers.  Those individuals can then join Sky Fallers on stage for guest spots at future Sky Fallers concerts.

Sky Fallers core band membership is a possibility for especially talented Learning Disabled individuals who demonstrate the necessary skills and commitment required to complement the level that the core band is working at.
