Join the Conservation Amphibians’ Survey

Toby from the Skelton Grange Environment Centre has been in touch with a request for help surveying amphibians ….

FrogsWinter has been clinging on with the current icy blast, but it can’t put off the arrival of Spring forever. This is the time of year for lots of frog activity in the ponds. So – its time for our annual amphibian surveys – and we’re looking for some help.

If anyone is keen to help out with some evening pond surveys – we do torchlight surveys at dusk. Training and support is provided into how the surveys will be carried out, and the torches an equipment needed are available at the centre.

We are looking at 3 dates at the moment:

  • Wednesday the 27th of March- 6pm – 8pm
  • Wednesday the 10th of April – 7pm – 9:30pm
  • Wednesday the 1st of May – 7:30pm – 10pm

Times are a bit approximate – it depends on darkness falling (which can depend on the weather as well as the sunset!).

If you are interested in helping out please let us know as soon as possible, and we will keep you posted with any developments on these events. If you have any questions then please give us a call on 0113 243 0815.

Hop to it!
