Local Councillor Andrew Scopes has welcomed the new outdoor cricket nets which have been a joint venture between Leeds City Council, England and Wales Cricket Board, IG Net Gains and the Yorkshire Cricket Foundation.
The 4-lane outdoor cricket nets can be found at the John Charles Centre for Sport, and are ready to be to hired throughout the summer, 7 days a week.
Councillor Scopes is keen to encourage clubs, community groups or individuals to make use of the new nets. People can hire anywhere between one lane up to all four and also access a bowling machine through a simple online booking process through the Active Leeds website.
Cllr Andrew Scopes (Labour, Beeston and Holbeck), said:
“I’m excited about the new opportunities these cricket nets will provide for people here in South Leeds.
“Whether you are sharpening your skills or just having a knock with friends, the nets are open and ready to use.
“I’m also delighted that some of our informal cricket teams will now have somewhere to practice with a hard ball.”
