Friday (20 November 2015) saw the Garden Gate Ultras hold their end of season party at their headquarters, The Garden Gate.
The public house has had two designated rooms tracing the history of the Hunslet rugby league club since its formation, as well as the Hall of Fame members for over a year now. The Ultras were formed mid way through the season, for supporters who want to support their teams vocally, rather than just clapping their hands. The Ultras have their own singing section of the ground and as well as having a couple of flags, have a range of songs to support the lads on the pitch.
At Friday’s event, the inaugural meeting since formation, members paid their membership and they hope to have some merchandise, organised away day travel in place for next season. Later they all joined in singing their supporters songs, including their newest one to celebrate Ahr Albert’s long overdue elevation to the RLFC Hall of Fame ‘Glory Glory Albert Goldthorpe’. The Landladies, despite being Rhino supporters, joined in the fun and supplied chip butties for the group.
Any Hunslet supporter who are ‘Hunslet till they die’ are invited to join this merry band of men, who never stop singing, just contact Daz, Gaz or Steven.
