Hunslet led from the tweflth to the eightieth minute, but at half time Oxford were still in touch, two scores behind. The game was settled at the beginning of the second half when the Hawks ran in three tries in the space of four minutes to squash any hopes Oxford had of catching them.

A hat trick from Mufaro Mvududu, plus tries from George Flanagan, Mo Agoro, Lewis Reed, Richie Barnett and Ben Crane; and four goals from the boot of Simon Brown saw Hunslet’s point tally hit forty.

Speaking to BBC Radio Leeds after the match, Hunslet Coach Matt Bramald said: “I’m happy to have two points, but less happy with the performance. We made far too many basic errors, especially in the first half, that invited Oxford back into the game, but we got the job done in the end.”

The win takes Hunslet Hawks up to 9th in League 1, whilst Oxford remain rooted to the bottom.
