The new Hunslet Club Dance Troupe made it’s first performance at the internationally renowned Leeds Light Night Festival on Friday October 5th. Their 10 minute routine was on the steps of Leeds Town Hall at 5:30, 6:30, 7:30 & 8:30pm.
For just one night each year, the city’s artists, makers and performers get together to transform our familiar streets and buildings in an unforgettable evening of exhibitions, installations and events. The theme for the festival this year was “dead of night”. With this in mind, based on their scariest imaginings, our troupe performed a spooky dance. Witnessing the more frightening things children dream about happening in the dead of night.
Hundreds of people stood on the Town Hall steps and watched each performance. “We felt priviledged to have been selected to perform at this popular festival on the Leeds cultural calendar” says Phillipa Ranger, Arts Development Worker. “Our dancers were really excited to premiere their first performance together and did exceptionally well.”
The following video features almost the whole of their third performance of the night as well as an excerpt from their first performance.
